POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Engineer’s responsibilities will include maintenance, improvement, cleaning and manipulation of data stored in analytics databases. He/She will work with data analytics and data science teams in order to understand and aid in the implementation of database requirements, analyze performance, and troubleshoot any existent issues. The position of the Data Engineer also plays a key role in the development and deployment of innovative big data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure ‘big data’ technologies.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights
- Work with stakeholders including the Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and Azure regions.
- Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.
- Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
- Engage with key vendors in assessing technology fit with LivaNova's future technology architecture and provide recommendations.
- Participate in end-to-end data products delivery from system design consulting, platform management, infrastructure support, capacity planning and performance tuning
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Advanced working knowledge and experience working with relational databases as well as NoSQL
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and data sets
- Strong analytical skills
- Significant experience working with Azure, including but not limited to ADF, Databricks, Data Lake Storage, Blob Storage, Integration Runtime, and Power BI
- Experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
- Experience in manipulating and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
- Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams
- Understanding of DevOps principles including git principles and how they apply to data pipelines and an analytics platform
- Extremely strong with programming languages like Python and R
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of work experience in a Data Engineer role
- 3+ years of experience working in a DevOps environment
- 2+ years of working in fast moving technical environments, preferably start-ups / scale-ups.
